Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy is a form of radiation therapy in which a radiation source is placed inside the body, next to or within the tumor. At Ocean Radiation Oncology, the unique technology of Xoft is used for brachytherapy. Unlike other forms of brachytherapy, Xoft delivers non-radioactive electronic radiation—using a miniaturized X-ray source—to the tumor site with minimal radiation exposure to surrounding normal tissues. This allows the Radiation Oncologists to treat patients who require brachytherapy with greater comfort than when using other brachytherapy treatments. Brachytherapy may be an appropriate option for a select group of tumors, which can be determined in consultation with your Radiation Oncologist.
